Wasamon Nutakul

SCITECH MANAGER

At GFI APAC, Wasamon guides the strategic direction of the Science and Technology team and ensures alignment with GFI’s global SciTech strategy. She supports funding agencies in prioritizing high-impact research and helps channel philanthropic investment to accelerate innovation across Asia-Pacific. Partnering with key scientific and government agencies, she brings alternative proteins into national agendas and convenes cross-border scientific communities. She also kick-started GFI APAC’s talent development initiatives at leading universities and serves as a plant-based meat subject matter expert.

She is based in Bangkok, Thailand

Wasamon brings over five years of experience at multinational food companies, where she built expertise in food proteins, ingredient development, and applications across B2B and B2C supply chains. She also spent two years at the academia–industry interface, helping develop the next generation of food engineers in Thailand. She holds a Ph.D. in Food Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a BSc. in Biochemistry from Chulalongkorn University. Her industry and academic background uniquely equip her to advance GFI’s SciTech priorities.

Wasamon regularly shares her expertise at regional and global forums. She has hosted scientific convenings such as AltProtAsia (2025), the Singapore–China Hybrid Conference (2024), and Thailand’s Alternative Protein Stakeholder Workshop (2024); moderated and presented at FHA Food & Beverage (2022–2023); and spoken at Bridge2Food Singapore (2021–2022) and Growth Asia Summit (2025). Her publications include a Nature commentary (2024) and multiple GFI APAC reports.

Research prioritization, plant-based meat production value chains, protein chemistry and food ingredient applications, cross-platform R&D strategy, scientific ecosystem convening, stakeholder engagement at the science–policy interface, and team leadership.
